Overview
Getting started with Lensi
Lensi helps people in Kenya see real prices for products and services, based on actual purchases and submissions from the community and verified vendors.
What Lensi focuses on today
Right now, Lensi covers products and services in Kenya. The goal is not to list every possible item in every shop, but to give a realistic sense of current market prices based on receipts and verified reports.
- Products are grouped by model and storage, not every single bundle.
- Prices are in Kenyan Shillings (KES) and tied to a location such as Nairobi or Mombasa.
- Each price comes from either a community member's receipt or a vendor submission.
Browsing prices
To see current prices, start with the Price Explorer or the search page. You can filter by brand, category, location, and price range.
- Use at least two characters when searching by name or brand.
- Where enough data exists, Lensi shows a typical price range rather than a single "official" price.
- Verified receipts and vendor submissions carry more weight in the price estimates.
Submitting your first price
When you buy a product or service, you can help others by sharing the price. From any product page or from the submission form, search for the product, enter the total amount you paid, choose the location, and optionally upload a receipt.
The app will suggest categories and try to read the receipt to speed things up, but you always have the final say before submitting.
Next steps
- Read Submitting prices for more detail on receipts, edits, and moderation.
- See Trust scores for how Lensi decides which prices to highlight.
- If you run a shop, start with Vendor portal to understand how vendor accounts work.
