Reliability
Offline use & background sync
Lensi is designed to handle patchy connections that are common in daily life. This page explains what you can and cannot do when you go offline.
What works offline
- Submit new prices: submissions are stored securely on your device and queued for sync.
- Revisit previously opened pages such as the home page, offline page, and cached product pages.
- In supported browsers, cached content may let you re-open some product pages without a full reload.
Behaviour can vary slightly between browsers, because offline support depends on how each browser implements service workers and caching.
How background sync works
When you submit while offline, Lensi saves the data (and an encoded version of your receipt if you attached one) into a local database in your browser. When the connection returns, the service worker sends those submissions to the server in the background.
- Your data stays on your device until a sync succeeds.
- You will see toasts when submissions start syncing and when they finish, including if any submissions fail.
- You can review the offline queue from your submissions page on the same device.
- Failed submissions are retried a few times; if they keep failing, try again once your connection is stable.
Limits of offline mode
- You need to visit Lensi at least once while online for offline mode to work.
- Live features such as browsing new prices or updating your vendor analytics still require an active connection.
- If you clear your browser data, any queued submissions stored on that device will be removed.
- Only pages and assets you have already visited are available offline; first-time visits still require an active connection.
